The idea for this sketch came when, months ago, when a prospective client (no worries, she didn't buy after all) wanted to commission a painting of Parvati, the Goddess of Shakti (power) -- she is also an incarnation of Durga.
In Bengal, we worship Durga with all her children. We grow up thinking of her as a goddess of course, but for the elders, it's their "daughter" visiting her parents, and for young people she is a mother, taking a break from her playful daughters and sons.
After I made the sketch, I got so caught up with a full-time job and other family commitments, I couldn't start working on it. I knew this one would take a lot of time and a lot of patience. But I am happy to say, I have worked on it enough to give everyone a sneak peek!
